Islay, Scotland · Founded in 1881
Bruichladdich Distillery was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers — William, Robert and John — on the western shores of Islay, overlooking Loch Indaal. Built using Victorian-era architecture and machinery, the distillery has preserved much of its original character throughout its long and chequered history. After passing through various owners over the decades, Bruichladdich was acquired by Rémy Cointreau in 2012, securing its future as one of Scotland's most distinctive distilleries. Bruichladdich is renowned for its progressive and terroir-driven approach to whisky making. The distillery produces three exceptional single malt Scotch whiskies under one roof: Bruichladdich, its flagship unpeated expression; Port Charlotte, a heavily peated Islay single malt; and Octomore, celebrated as one of the most heavily peated whiskies in the world. This diverse portfolio reflects the distillery's commitment to pushing boundaries while respecting tradition. Master Distiller and Blender Adam Hannett continues to shape the identity of the brand with a forward-looking vision. With its roots firmly planted in Victorian craftsmanship and its eyes set firmly on the future, Bruichladdich occupies a unique position in the world of Scotch whisky. The distillery's dedication to transparency, provenance and innovation has earned it a loyal global following and a strong reputation among whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
