The company's distillery, Barton 1792 Distillery, was originally established in 1879 and is located in Bardstown, Kentucky, making it the oldest fully-operating distillery in Bardstown, sitting on 196 acres of historic grounds. Over the decades, Barton Brands passed through several owners, including Constellation Brands, before its portfolio was eventually acquired by Sazerac. Barton is best known for producing a range of American bourbons and spirits. Among its most recognized brands are 1792 Bourbon — named for the year Kentucky became a state — Kentucky Tavern, and Very Old Barton. The 1792 portfolio in particular has grown into a diverse lineup, including expressions such as Small Batch, and more recently a Cognac Cask Finish.
