Aultmore Distillery was founded in 1896 by Alexander Edward, a prolific distillery builder who also owned Benrinnes and Craigellachie. Located near the Speyside town of Keith in the northeast of Scotland, Aultmore was Edward's third distillery venture. In 1923, Edward sold the distillery to John Dewar & Sons for £20,000, which subsequently became part of the Distillers Company in 1925. Following the Guinness–Grand Metropolitan merger and its major restructuring, Aultmore eventually came under the ownership of Bacardi through its subsidiary John Dewar & Sons, where it remains today. Aultmore is a classic Speyside distillery known for producing a light, fresh, and grassy style of single malt. Historically, its spirit was highly prized by blenders and considered a valuable asset in the industry — a reputation that helped secure the distillery's future through multiple changes of ownership. Today it contributes to Bacardi's blended whisky portfolio, most notably Dewar's, while also being released as a single malt expression under its own name. In 2021, Bacardi celebrated Aultmore's 125th anniversary with an ambitious £1.5 million expansion plan, underscoring the distillery's continued importance within the group. Aultmore is one of five Scottish distilleries operated by Bacardi, alongside Aberfeldy, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla, and Deveron.
