Ardgowan Distillery draws on a rich historical legacy rooted in the west of Scotland. The original Ardgowan Distillery was founded in 1896 at 39 Baker Street in Greenock, producing grain whisky for a consortium of renowned blenders including John Walker. Although that original site was ultimately destroyed, the Ardgowan name has been revived with ambition and purpose. The modern Ardgowan Distillery Company is building a state-of-the-art distillery on the Ardgowan estate near Inverkip, just south of Greenock on the Firth of Clyde, with the aim of becoming Scotland's newest distillery. While the new distillery takes shape, Ardgowan has been actively building its reputation through its boutique whisky brand, Clydebuilt. The first Clydebuilt release hit shelves in 2019, and in 2025 the range was expanded with six fresh Single Malt expressions. Whisky maker Laura Davies leads the creative vision behind the liquid, crafting a range that reflects the maritime character of the Clyde estuary. Ardgowan also offers the unique Infinity Casks programme, allowing enthusiasts to invest directly in the distillery's future. Ardgowan's Clydebuilt brand has already earned award-winning recognition and secured global distribution partnerships across Germany, Canada, Sweden, and Asia, demonstrating the growing international appetite for this exciting Scottish whisky venture.
