Destilerías Acha is one of Spain's most historically significant distilleries, founded in 1831 in the Basque Country. It holds the distinction of being the oldest operating company in the Basque Country and the oldest family-owned company in all of Spain. The distillery's roots trace back to Juan José Acha, and the family's connection to spirits production has spanned generations, making it a cornerstone of Iberian distilling heritage. Though Destilerías Acha is perhaps best known for its Pacharán liqueur, the distillery has also made a name for itself in the world of whisky through the Haran brand. The Haran 12 Year Old Traditional Spanish Single Malt is a notable expression produced at the distillery, matured in Iberian oak casks and delivering notes of toasted barley, malt, and orange peel. The use of local Iberian oak sets Acha's whisky apart, lending it a distinctly Spanish character that reflects its terroir. The distillery's whisky legacy also has Scottish ties: in 1926, Martín Acha travelled to Scotland to learn the craft of whisky-making, laying the foundation for the distillery's spirits expertise. With centuries of history behind it, Destilerías Acha remains a proud symbol of Basque craftsmanship and innovation.
