Aberlour is a celebrated Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery with deep roots in the Scottish Highlands. While the first distillery in the village of Aberlour was established as early as 1825, the modern distillery was founded in 1879 by local businessman and banker James Fleming, situated at the heart of the Speyside region. Its Gaelic name, meaning 'mouth of the chattering burn', reflects its close connection to the natural landscape of the region. Today, Aberlour is owned by French beverage giant Pernod Ricard and ranks among the top ten best-selling single malt Scotch whiskies in the world. Aberlour is renowned for its classic Speyside style, characterised by rich, sherried expressions with notes of dried fruit, spice, and honeyed sweetness. The distillery is particularly well known for its use of sherry cask maturation, which gives its whisky's a distinctively full-bodied and luxurious character. Among its most celebrated releases is Aberlour A'Bunadh, a cask strength, non-chill-filtered expression first introduced in 2000, which has earned a devoted following among whisky enthusiasts worldwide for its intense flavour and traditional production methods.
